We teach through a skills-based approach, meaning the focus is on hands-on, practical learning rather than just completing a project. Students work with a wide range of tools — from basic knives and chisels through to specialised gouges and micro tools — and learn how to select, use, and maintain each one. We also cover timber knowledge, design thinking, and planning, so you build real confidence and craftsmanship that carries beyond the classroom.
There is always a challenge to offer classes for people with different skill levels which is why we offer a range of classes catering for new to experienced carvers.
