With an ever changing forest environment sometime trees are buried underground or even in rivers. This can bring the timber into contact with different natural compounds that can cause discolouration from which we describe as "mineralised". We do not use the term ancient as there has not been any carbon dating done on the specific tree this timber came from so we cannot determine its age.

A richly coloured piece that has a wash of figure present is truly a rare marvel that should be highly prized.
